Over the past 15 years, a small Canadian grassroots non-profit organization has been
providing clean water and sanitation in some of the poorest nations in the world.
Lifewater.ca does this not by drilling wells and building latrines, but by training and equipping local African and Haitian people to drill wells, build latrines and teach health and hygiene classes. Through this methodology Lifewater.ca has caused more than a 1000 wells to be drilled in Liberia, Nigeria, Kenya, and Haiti, as well as a handful of other countries. Dollar for dollar, provision of clean water in a community can help preserve the life of many generations of people. Water, which in many cases is easily accessible with a moderately deep well and a hand pump, can change the lives of so many people. Not just through health, but also through quality of life. Not having to travel several kilometres for water allows young girls to attend school, women to run business, farmers to be more efficient, and people to be generally happier and healthier.

The technology is simple, the methodology is easy, and the rewards are great.
