Subject: Candidates for the 2011 Governing Council and Academic Board Elections

Please distribute this memorandum widely.

Governing Council Elections

i. Teaching Staff seats for Constituencies II (University of Toronto Mississauga) and VIII (OISE) have been filled by acclamation. An election for one teaching staff seat for Constituency VII (John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design, Joseph L. Rotman School of Management, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Information, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Music, and the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work) will be held online between Monday, February 28, and Friday, March 11, 2011. Voting instructions will be sent by email to members of Constituency VII prior to the voting period.

ii An election for eight student seats will also be held between Monday, February 28 and March 11, 2011.

Full-time undergraduate students registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Toronto at Scarborough, and the Professional Faculties (excluding postgraduate medical students), part-time undergraduate students, and graduate students will be able to vote on ROSI. Information will be sent to students by e-mail at a later date. Online votes must be cast by March 11.

Postgraduate medical students will be able to vote using paper ballots. Ballots will be mailed to students during the week of February 21, 2011 and must be returned by March 11, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Students should be directed to contact me if they are entitled to participate in the elections but do not receive a paper ballot in the mail.

Academic Board Elections

Thirteen of the fifteen teaching staff seats and one librarian seat have been filled by acclamation. Nominations will reopen for the two remaining seats (Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering and University of Toronto Mississauga) and for a by-election for one seat (Faculty of Medicine) on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 12 noon. The deadline for the submission of nominations is Friday, February 11, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. Nomination forms will be available as of January 31st from the Office of the Governing Council or online at: http://www.governingcouncil.utoronto.ca/elections.htm
