Withdrawal from courses or programs without academic penalty does not necessarily result in a refund. Check the Student Fees refund schedule for details.

The online version of the 2010-2011 SGS Calendar has a complete listing of important sessional dates.

International Graduate Student Survey - Coming Soon
The University of Toronto will be surveying all international graduate students in the upcoming weeks. The survey is an important tool for planning new programs and improving services. Stay tuned for more information and please take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to participate.

November 15 payment deadline for OSAP deferrals
Students who made OSAP fees arrangements or who paid the minimum fee required to register have until November 15 to make full payment of fall/winter session fees. Monthly service charges will be applied against the outstanding student account balance beginning November 15 and on the 15th of every month thereafter until the account is paid in full.

Students who made fees arrangements based on a major financial award, research stipend or Teaching Assistantship have until April 30 to pay their fees in full before monthly service charges are applied.

Delta Kappa Gamma World Fellowship Award
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society World Fellowship Fund was established to provide women international graduate students the opportunity to pursue graduate studies in Canada and the United States. The award is valued at USD$4,000. Applicants must be female, currently registered graduate students and cannot be a citizen or landed immigrant of either Canada or the United States. Stay tuned to the SGS Awards website as application deadline and details will be posted shortly.

Master's Tuition fee bursary due November 30
The Master's Tuition fee bursaries are awarded to Master's students in both course-work and research programs who still have a small amount of work outstanding, due to reasons and factors that are unanticipated and beyond the student's control. The bursary allows the recipient to pay the equivalent of part-time fees for the last session that they are registered and assessed fees as full-time students while they complete their degree requirements. Eligible students should read the information sheet for guidelines and fill out the application form to submit to their Graduate Unit.

CIHR CGS Master's Award
The Canada Graduate Scholarships Master's Awards administered by CIHR are intended to provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a Master's degree in a health related field in Canada. Applications are available until November 5 via the CIHR Apply for Funding website. Check your Graduate Unit for your document submission deadline.

Bike Boxes improve cycling safety
Students on the St. George campus have probably noticed bike icons painted on the street at the St. George and Harbord/Hoskin intersection. These are bike boxes - an effort by the city of Toronto to prevent discord among cyclists and right-turning motorists.

Grad Room Mixer
Anxious to get out of the lab? Need a break from all that marking? Eager to meet people outside your department? The School of Graduate Studies and the Office of Student Life invite you to the November Grad Room Mixer! This is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow graduate students from all over campus. Light refreshments (sushi) provided and cash bar available. Thinking about starting a family?
Many graduate students wonder if they can have both - a career in academia and children. Join the Family Care Office for "Can I Have Both", a panel discussion featuring graduate students and faculty members who are currently integrating their studies/career with raising children. Thursday, November 11, 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Registration is required.

The Family Care Office offers services to help students who need information on pregnancy planning and child care, to help individuals who are caring for an aging relative, and more. Workshops, discussion groups, confidential consultations and family events are offered throughout the year.

Accessibility Services supports success at university
Disabilities aren't always obvious. In fact, some of them aren't even permanent. All three U of T campuses have services devoted to making sure everyone has equal access to every aspect of University life. Regardless of whether your disability is visible or not, be sure to check in and register with the service on your campus. They can even help with temporary conditions such as broken bones or severe allergic reactions. Your accessibility service can arrange such accommodations as alternative test arrangements, adaptive equipment and technology and reading materials in alternate formats. For details visit the service on your campus:
Mississauga: AccessAbility Resource Centre
Scarborough: AccessAbility Services
St. George: Accessibility Services
