Re: Compensation Update
As outlined in my recent memos, the Business Board has approved compensation increases for Professional & Managerial Staff and Confidential Staff, effective April 1, 2012.
Based on our assessment of the new restraint measures in the 2012 Budget, it is our view that we may proceed to implement the approved increases, retroactive to April 1, for all Confidential Staff, all PM 1-7 staff; and all 1AP staff. These increases will be included in the May pay. Given that you have not received an Across the Board (ATB) increase for three years, we are extremely pleased to be able to address, at least partially, the resulting internal inequities.
We are also in the process of determining which of our senior PM positions will fall within the Executive Officer Restraint requirements under the new budget. We anticipate that only a small number will be affected. As we receive more detailed guidelines, we will be in touch directly with those staff members. Those PM 8-9 and 2AP staff members who we determine do not fall within the Executive Officer guidelines will receive the compensation increases approved by Business Board.
We have also revised the Job Evaluation system for Confidential Staff and have developed new salary ranges that take the USW ranges into account. The minima of the salary ranges for PM 1-4 have also been increased to align more closely with corresponding USW positions. The resulting changes will be retroactive to April 1. More information about these changes, and the timing, will be available shortly.
Once again, on behalf of my colleagues, I thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to the University and to our students.
