RE: Staff Changes – Risk Management and Insurance

It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to inform you that Mr. Eric Fleming, Director of Risk Management and Insurance, will be retiring at the end of June after more than 28 years of distinguished service with the University. I would like to thank Eric very much for his many significant contributions over the years both to the University and to the Canadian university sector and to wish him the very best in his retirement. Having worked with Eric for many years, I will truly miss his guidance and expertise. He plans to spend as much of his well-earned retirement time as possible golfing and travelling.

I am pleased to let you know that Mr. John Kerr has been appointed Director of Risk Management and Insurance. John comes to the University from a similar position at the Bank of Montreal, where he was Director of Corporate Risk and Insurance since 2003. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at the Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange (CURIE) where he gained significant knowledge of, and appreciation for, the university sector. John has recently joined the University and is currently working with Eric until Eric’s retirement. Please join me in welcoming John to U of T.
