About
the Award
The Ludwik and Estelle (Stella) Jus Memorial Human Rights Prize
was established in 1995 in memory of two Polish educators who risked their
lives during the Holocaust to rescue Jewish people. They believed deeply in the
moral value of human beings, irrespective of race, nationality, class or
religion. The award is presented to a faculty, staff or student member of the
University who has made a positive and lasting contribution to education and
action against discrimination. Prize winners have included a wide variety
individuals who have been recognized for their scholarship, personal service to
others, or activities in support of the University’s commitment to the values
of equal opportunity, equity and justice.
The
award recipient will receive a prize of up to $1500 and will be honoured at the
Awards of Excellence ceremony held in the spring of 2014.
