Re: Family Care Office Elder Care Information Day - November 19


Join the Family Care Office (214 College St., Koffler Centre) for an Elder Care Information Day on November 19 from noon to 2 p.m. There will be displays on elder care resources, on-site counselling appointments and concurrent information sessions available for students, staff and faculty caring for or supporting an elderly
family member.

Seniors and Safety in the Home

Morgan Gadsby and Andrea Cook, Occupational Therapists from VHA Rehab Solutions

Noon -12:45 p.m. - 214 College St. Room 313

The facilitators will be available after their session until 2 p.m. in the Family Care Office and will have assistive devices for display.



Exploring Senior Housing Options

Esther Goldstein, social worker and author of Comprehensive Guide to Retirement Living.

1 -1:30 p.m. - 214 College St. Room 313

Esther will be available in the Family Care Office from noon to 1 p.m. and then after her session until 2
p.m. She will provide free copies of her book.
Counselling Sessions:



Coping with a loved one who may have Alzheimer's disease?

A trained counsellor from the Alzheimer Society of Toronto will be on-site to provide 45-minute confidential
appointments from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. She can discuss any questions or personal concerns you may have about
dementia, such as getting a diagnosis, immediate and future care, family matters, ethical issues, stress and
coping techniques. The counselling session is available without charge, but pre-registration is required;
please call 416-978-0951 for an appointment.



Dealing with caregiver stress?

Lynne Gallagher, MSW, from Family Service Toronto (FST) will be available from noon - 2 p.m. to provide
information and guidance if you are dealing with caregiver stress. She will also be able to provide an
overview of the Seniors and Caregivers Support Services offered by FST.
