RE: Committee to Review the Office of the University Ombudsperson
The Executive Committee of the Governing Council has established a committee to review the Office of the University Ombudsperson. The Ombudsperson, Professor Emeritus Joan E. Foley's term ends on June 30, 2010. She is eligible for reappointment.
Members of the Review Committee are: Dr. Alice Dong (Lieutenant-Governor-in-Council appointee to the Governing Council, Chair), Mr. P.C. Choo (Administrative staff governor), Professor William Gough (Teaching staff governor), Mr. Olivier Sorin (Student governor), Ms Elizabeth Vosburgh (Alumni governor) and Professor Angela Hildyard (Administrative Advisor). Mr. Neil Dobbs is Secretary to the Committee.
Members of the University community are invited to submit their advice to the Committee to Review the Office of the University Ombudsperson. Advice is sought particularly on the following topics:
* The achievement of the objectives approved by the Governing Council following the 2006 review of the Office of the Ombudsperson: (a) restructuring to enable the Ombudsperson to focus on complex cases and systemic matters, complemented by a Case Officer's work on more general matters; (b) awareness of the Office by members of the University community across the three campuses; and (c) access to and use of information by members of the University on how to pursue remedies to concerns before involvement of the Office.
* The effectiveness of the Office's operations from July 1, 2007.
