I regret to announce that Nadeem Shabbar, Chief Real Estate Officer, has resigned to accept a position as Vice President, Corporate Real Estate at the Royal Bank. His last day at U of T will be February 11.
During his tenure at U of T Nadeem has made a major contribution to the organization, managing construction projects to ensure on time, on budget completion. Key projects have included the new buildings at UTSC and UTM funded under the infrastructure stimulus program, both of which will be completed by the end of March - only two years from start to finish. He also orchestrated a number of important real estate transactions, including the sale of the David Dunlap Observatory and the acquisition of the Planetarium and a number of other critical sites.
I have benefited greatly from his knowledge and support and will miss having access to it. Please join me in wishing him well in his new position.
A further announcement will clarify reporting relationships for the immediate future while we reassess orgnaizational needs and options, but if there are any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
