ISISE: WELCOME II – Promoting the return of researchers to the European Research Area

The Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (www.isise.net) is looking for possible candidates for joint applications to the call below, directed to postdoctoral researchers from the European Union residing outside Europe for the last three years. The Institute gathers about 25 PhD members and over 60 PhD students, with a proven record of internationalization, contracted research, cooperation with industry and international leadership in selected fields. ISISE is organized in three Research Groups, related to Historical and masonry, Steel and mixed, and Concrete construction technologies.
Eligible candidates should contact the Head of ISISE, Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço (pbl@civil.uminho.pt), before October 30.

WELCOME II – Promoting the return of researchers to the European Research Area

The Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology) will soon launch the WELCOME II Programme, allowing Post-doc researchers of any Member State/Associated Country nationality living and carrying out research for the past 3 years in Third Countries (such as USA, Japan or China) to join institutions in Portugal, by signing 3-year employment contracts with their host institution.

EU Member States:
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

FP7 Associated Countries:
Croatia, Rep. Macedonia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Applications should be submitted jointly by the host institution and the individual researcher. All fields are eligible and research topics can be freely decided upon. Applications are assessed by independent peer reviewers.

Call launch: 1 October 2010
Deadline: 12 December 2010
