RE: Appointment of the Director, Academic Programs & Policy

We are very pleased to announce that Jane Harrison has been appointed Director, Academic Programs & Policy effective October 18, 2010. Jane joins the Provost's Office from York University where she has served in several senior positions related to the development and approval of a wide variety of academic initiatives. Currently she holds the position of Senior Advisory Policy and Process, Integrated Resource Planning Office in the Office of the Vice-President Academic and Provost. Prior to that from 2008-09 she was the Interim Director, Integrated Resource Planning Office, in the Office of the Vice-President Finance & Administration and from 2003 to 2008 she was the Senior Coordinator, Academic Policy and Planning in the Atkinson Faculty of Liberal and Professional Studies. Before joining York University she had roles as an independent consultant and an education policy analyst. Prior to this Jane worked as an historian for Canada Post Corporation and the National Post !
Museum.

Jane has a PhD in History from the University of Toronto, an MA in History from Carleton University and a BA in History (with a minor in International Relations) from the University of Toronto.

Jane brings to the Provost's Office a wealth of experience in academic and strategic planning as well as a deep understanding of university governance, norms and processes. We look forward to having her join our team.
