Subject: “Town Hall” Session on Implementation of the Recommendations of the Task Force on Governance
I write on behalf of Richard Nunn, Chair of the Task Force on Governance Implementation Committee and Vice-Chair of the Governing Council, to invite you to a “town hall” session on the implementation of the Task Force’s recommendations. It will be held:
Date: March 28, 2011
Time: 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Council Chamber, Simcoe Hall, 27 King’s College Circle
The purpose of this session is to enable members of our University community to comment on implementation matters that the Committee will be considering in fulfilling its mandate. Its focus will be on issues that individuals believe that the Committee should take into account in putting the recommendations of the Task Force into operation. This advice will inform the Committee as it proceeds with its work as summarized below and receives written comments on particular recommendations.
On October 28, 2010, the Governing Council considered the Report of the Task Force on Governance. Approving the Report in principal, the Council approved some recommendations to be effective immediately and others for future implementation. It also established an Implementation Committee to oversee and coordinate implementation of the Task Force’s recommendations. In early January, Mr. Nunn wrote to you about the membership of the Implementation Committee and informing you about the meeting schedule and agendas which can be found at http://www.governingcouncil.utoronto.ca/taskforce/Meeting_Agendas.htm. The Committee invited written submissions on matters it would be considering and asked that such input be provided in writing one week in advance of the relevant meeting. Submissions may be sent in confidence to the Secretary at l.charpentier@utoronto.ca.
